For our customer located in Basel/Switzerland we are currently looking for a

Python Scientific Software Developer (m/f/x)

 

 

Background:

 

We are looking for an experienced Python scientific software developer to further expand the scientific computational frameworks that help data scientists analyze the large-scale data from digital devices handed out in clinical studies. The successful candidate will design, implement, document and test the aforementioned algorithms that will be applied in the field of digital biomarkers. The work will be done as a part of the small scientific development team of software engineers that collaborates closely with data analysts and other stakeholders within the broader team. Ultimately, the candidate will be responsible for delivering a high quality code that will impact the drug discovery process and lives of millions of patients.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the backend scientific software used in cutting-edge data science of Digital Biomarkers
  • Develop and implement signal processing and data analysis pipelines for processing large amounts of sensor data and meta data collected in clinical trials according to best coding practices
  • Develop and implement tools for data visualization, data versioning and data analysis for non-expert users
  • Extend and maintain documentation and unit tests around the new and existing code
  • Proactively collaborate with a team comprising data scientists, software engineers, and life science experts

Must Haves

  • Min. Master degree with emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer/Computational Sciences)
  • Min. 3+ years of proven Python software development experience and non-academic working
  • Expert knowledge of Python libraries – numpy and pandas
  • Sound knowledge of best software development practices: unit testing, documentation, version control
  • Proficiency in use of linux/bash
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking and structured working style
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team

Nice to Haves

  • Previous working experience with the following common scientific Python libraries: SciPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib
  • Previous working experience in designing, creating and implementing methods and algorithms in science/digital signal processing
  • Previous working experience with agile practices
  • Previous working experience in the pharmaceutical industry or within regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working with the Cloud environments and/or workload management systems (SLURM)
  • A link to code repository on github/gitlab/bitbucket containing personal projects
