Background

For our customer located in Basel/Switzerland we are currently looking for (m/f/d) a Digital Biomarker Software Engineer (Scientific and Manufacturing)

  • Type of placement: 12 months, external contract with possible long term extension
  • Company:  major Pharma company in Basel/Kaiseraugst area
  • Salary:  level 2, please ask us for the exact rate range 

(monthly all in salary levels in CHF,  level1= 5-10k , level2=10-15k,  level3= >15k)

We are looking for a new contractor for the Digital Biomarker Program at our customer. The successful candidate will establish processes and implementations to handle the big data collected from smartphones and other wearables in clinical trials to discover digital biomarkers. 

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Implement signal processing and data analysis pipelines for processing large amounts of sensor data collected in clinical trials according to best coding practice 
  • Modularize existing signal processing and data analysis pipelines to enable reuse of pipelines across clinical trials by a large team of scientists 
  • Documentation of code used in pipelines

  • Start Date: 15.04.2019 
  • Latest start date: 01.05.2019 
  • End Date: One year duration. 
  • Work Location: Basel,  
  • Work Load: 100% 
  • Remote: 1 day per week, prior approval needed. 
  • Extension: Possible, but not approved yet. 
  • Travelling: Limited travel, if the project requires, 0 to 25% possible (Europe & USA for meetings, conferences and workshops) 
  • Department: PXI (pRED Informatics, Digital Biomarkers Program) 

 

Requirements: 

Must Haves

  • 2+ years professional software development experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related technical fields 
  • Deep knowledge of Python and preferably one or more of the following programming languages: Java, C/C++, R and Matlab 
  • Previous working experience with the common Python data analysis stack (e.g. NumPy/SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc) 
  • Strong working knowledge of best coding practices (versioning, TDD, debugging) 
  • Experience in or eagerness to build ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines 
  • Familiar with the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, BitBucket, Bamboo) 
  • Strong analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking and structured working style 
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team 
  • Fluent in English 

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores 
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux internals and workload management systems (SLURM, SGE or UGE) 
  • Project-based work experience in the pharmaceutical industry/consulting preferred 
  • Experience with signal processing 
  • One additional language (German is a plus)
