Background

The Pharma Informatics Region Europe and EEMEA organization (aka EMEA IT PMO) is responsible for delivering portfolio and project management services to the Region Europe and EEMEA IT organization. 
The EMEA IT PMO is looking for a Professional Project Manager with hands-on portfolio management experience to support the teams’ operations.

  • Work location: Basel, Switzerland 
  • Extension: an extension is unlikely 
  • Workload: 100% 
  • Remote: could be envisioned in a second step, the candidate should be working onsite 
  • Travelling: Limited travel (primarily in Europe – up to 20%) will be required (to Germany, UK, Spain and France) for meetings with leadership members.

Tasks & Responsibilities

 
On Portfolio topics: 

  • Support the instantiation of the newly-revised portfolio management process. Contribute to finalizing documentation, training manuals, further process definition as needed based on internal knowledge, as well as external best practices 
  • Ensure high-level information quality of preliminary business cases 
  • Support the creation of scenarios for demands review & prioritization 
  • Support the optimization of the portfolio management toolsets incl. relevant documentation, training, and adoption activities 
  • Benchmark the current portfolio management processes according to standards and lead the co-creation of the 18-month roadmap. 

On project management topics: 

  • Support the setup & initiation of the “Project Management & Agile” Community of Practice 
  • Support the ramp-up of new PM Center of Excellence incl. process definition (e.g. process for peer review, mentoring, demand-to-project transition, detailed Roles & Responsibilities with other key roles like IT Business Partner, Business Analyst), induction of new joiners and hand-over as relevant 
  • Support any new project initiation activity, and ensure successful project launch according to the Customers IT guidelines 
  • As part of the PMO team, contribution to developing the team’s maturity during the period of engagement 
Requirements: 

 

  • Recognized knowledge of, and hands-on experience with Project Management methodologies, languages, standards and processes with 5+ years of experience in project delivery, preferably with broad industry exposure 
  • Experience in leading one or more organizational project within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and cost, to deliver specified requirements 
  • Proven experience in Portfolio Management practices, preferably in complex, matrices organizations 
  • Financial affinity to understand business cases and perform budget tracking 
  • Very good experience in communication and change management 
  • Proven track record in leading virtual teams in multi-cultural environments 
  • Pushes without offending and is able to create and lead high performing project teams 
  • Strong knowledge and experience with IT / IS governance processes, incl. financial tracking 
  • Strong interpersonal skills (challenge is to build connection and trust with different interaction partners) 
  • Excellent ability to communicate to others not only what is being done and how, but also why 
  • Fluency in English 
  • PM certification 
  • ITIL experience (IT infrastructure library) 
  • Pharma experience (ideally having worked together with one or more business functions and IT in the past)
