For our Swiss customer located in Basel we are currently looking for (m/f) a Junior Data Analysis Expert (Scientific & Manufacturing)

• Type of placement: 1 year, external contract with possible long term extension
• Company: major Pharma company in Basel area
• Salary: level 3, please ask us for the exact rate range

(monthly all in salary levels in CHF, level1= 5-10k , level2=10-15k, level3= >15k)

We are looking for a number of roles to support the Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Digital Biomarker program. This program’s objective is to develop digital biomarkers for Pharma. The program’s focus areas are: 

  • 1) Design digital biomarkers: Define ways to capture clinical outcomes using sensor data collected from smartphones and wearables 
  • 2) Develop apps and data processing pipeline: Establish processes, software, and infrastructure to handle big data collected from sensors in clinical trials
  • 3) Deploy digital biomarkers to clinical studies: Generate data to validate approaches and support decision making 
  • 4) Analyse and interpret sensor data: Identify signals for disease severity and progression in sensor data collected from patients in trials 


Tasks & Responsibilites

The successful candidate will be analysing large amounts sensor data collected from smartphones and other wearables in clinical trials to discover digital biomarkers required to assess drug efficacy.

  • Remote: 1 day per week, prior approval needed. 
  • Extension: Possible, but not approved yet. 
  • Travelling: Limited travel, if the project requires, 0 to 25% possible (Europe & USA for meetings, conferences and workshops) 
  • Department: pRED Informatics (PXIZ) 



  • Very good university degree in mathematics, statistics, natural science or informatics 
  • 3+ years of experience with analyzing big data sets, data visualization (former engineering experience as well as technical know-how shown in the last projects) 
  • Experience with software development and big data infrastructures 
  • Experience with analysing biomechanical and sensor data desirable 
  • Profound knowledge in Python, R, Matlab or similar software packages/languages 
  • Knowledge of MS Office 
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills 
  • Self-starting team player 
  • Fluent in English 
  • German speaking 
  • Working experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally with clinical studies
