For our Swiss customer located in Basel we are currently looking for (m/f) a Business Analyst PHARMA

Type of placement: 12 months, external contract with possible long term extension

The Position

The Business Process team within Education & Engagement provides expertise in business process management principles as well as providing leadership to clinical operations processes and molecule enabling projects. The job holder is accountable for strategic procedures and business processes development for pRED globally with 1-3 year planning horizon. This includes integration of systems into the pRED business processes through collaboration with the system architect. Overall accountability for BPO (Business Process Owner) network within pRED and links to the GPOs (Global Process Owners) in the organization S/he actively manages and a point of contact for internal (pRED) and external business process management groups. Representation of pRED in the Development and Maintenance of a Business Process Management (BPM) strategy. The role of the Process Management Leader is to support ClinDev’s strategic directives by ensuring the development and management of business processes that enable compliance and quality standards across pRED Early Development. BPMs consistently apply best-in-class, core methodologies to lead and drive global process improvement projects to support the ongoing evaluation and management of Study Management Team (SMT) business processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides business process management expertise
  • Stays abreast of internal and external developments, trends, and other dynamics relevant to the work of ClinDev and SMT’s to maintain, at all times, a fully current view and perspective of internal/external influences and/or implications for assigned processes, projects, and/or other recurring and ad hoc responsibilities
  • Proactively reviews internal process metrics, industry trends and research related to program, project and business process practices
  • Expected to communicate issues, concerns, and recommendations to Education & Engagement Leadership & CDLT in a timely and targeted manner to support effective, expeditious, and efficient decision-making regarding business process
  • Actively monitors the  business process landscape to find opportunities for functional alignment
  • Actively manages relationships with other pRED stakeholders with regards to process development
  • Represents pRED in relevant boards and working groups for process development and alignment where necessary
  • Develops and contributes to a strategy of Business Process Management  (including BPM software solution)
  • Collaborates with the Information and Systems group to ensure optimal integration of systems/tools into process landscape
  • Exchanges key information between Process and Knowledge Management groups to ensure correct prioritization of processes
  • Acts as a Process Ambassador both within and outside of pRED
  • Develops new process development opportunities, reaching to early development (incl. pre-Clinical) and also late phase organization (LIP transition) where necessary in support of SMTs
  • Leads and/or contributes to the success of the BPO (Business Process Owner) network in pRED
  • Collaborates with business process owners (BPO), SLTL, and subject matter experts, in identifying and recommending process improvement opportunities
  • Expected to consistently apply sound, best-practice process management methodologies and use standardized tools, templates, and other resources to approach and complete his/her work
  • Participates in and leads efforts to implement ongoing process improvement projects (e.g. process mapping, documentation, metrics, monitoring process control techniques)
  • Serves as business process advocate
  • Plans and facilitates process workshops where required to capture process knowledge
  • Develops new, updated, or otherwise enhanced process improvements, and/or supports manager or other team members on large-scale or highly complex process initiatives or other projects/work assignments as needed
  • Conducts process assessments and other needs analysis to proactively identify, plan for, and secure the required resources necessary to design, deliver and maintain effective processes.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders (subject matter experts across ClinDev and potentially other  Divisions) to share key processes, ensure alignment, and address gaps.
  • Collaborates with other ClinDev teams, global leadership, and others to input around the development of relevant training, communications, and other change management activities related to implementation of new, updated, or otherwise enhanced processes
  • Performs, as required, root cause analysis of business processes to determine potential opportunities for improvement as well as elimination of waste
  • Collaborates with the quality/metrics team in the determination of key performance indicators (KPIs) for business processes, and strategies on obtaining and analyzing these KPIs
  • Ensures process documentation is created and distributed for use by impacted end users, including required updates and maintenance of the process management system (ADONIS)
  • Acts as main point of contact for the upkeep of process documentation in our business process management tool (ADONIS)
Requirements: 
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Advanced Degree in related field is preferred
  • 10 or more years of experience in clinical drug development or training within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Working knowledge of international regulatory and ICH GCP guidelines
  • Leadership experience and skills
  • Previous experience working in a process management environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional group planning and decision-making
  • Project management and process improvement skills. Sound knowledge of and preference for past experience working with operational excellence methodologies and tools, such as value stream mapping, business process redesign, Six Sigma, LEAN, modeling and simulation, cycle time reduction, etc.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and experience with business process management software 
  •  Strong experience in clinical or pharmaceutical development is essential
  • Knowledge of the drug development process
  • Knowledge of early development desired
  • Proven project management and co-ordination skills including planning, organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience in working in global cross-functional projects and/or working groups
  • Experience in developing policies and processes with a strong focus on problem solving
  • Strong analytical and process driven thinking
  • Strong customer focus and ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to motivate self, work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills in English
